In order to reduce the effects of both heavy metals and chemical pollution on the environment, the EC (European Commission) has stipulated explicitly that no electrical and electronic equipment put on the market throughout the EU may contain lead after 2006.
In addition, there are also the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations (“WEEE”) as well as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Regulations (“RoHS”) in WEEE.
