FSP announces the arrival of LEAD-FREE Power Supply 2005-08-23

FSP Group, a world leader in designing and manufacturing mobile power solutions & switching power supplies, introduces the Green PS FSP Power Supply, the environmentally friendly and energy efficient power supply.

In order to reduce the effects of both heavy metals and chemical pollution on the environment, the EC (European Commission) has stipulated explicitly that no electrical and electronic equipment put on the market throughout the EU may contain lead after 2006.

In addition, there are also the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations (“WEEE”) as well as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Regulations (“RoHS”) in WEEE.  These provide strict regulations on the designated maximum allowable levels of six toxic substances (some are excluded all together) in electrical and electronic equipment, in the EU:

1. Lead
2. Mercury
3. Cadmium
4. Hexavalent chromium
5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
6. Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)

Ever-increasing environmental awareness adds to the importance and value of products delivering environmental protection and energy-saving features. In response to this trend, manufacturers are now pursuing environmentally friendly processes.

With its large power supply market share in the EU, FSP combines innovative technologies with its belief in environmental protection and material recycling, and has taken the lead in the PC power supply manufacturing industry to launch the first environmentally friendly, highly efficient PC power supply that complies with both the RoHS and WEEE Regulations on processing – the Green PS FSP Power Supply.

Having considered its commitment to environmental protection and recycle/re-use rates in the future, FSP is committed to an on-going environmentally friendly process from product R&D to manufacturing and production that helps reduce the burden on the environment.

FSP’s Green PS complies with the latest Intel ATX12V 2.0 version of power supply regulations, and supports the Intel Prescott P4 and AMD 64-bit CPUs.  Its independent 12V Dual Output provides a more stable electrical current, while its new generation Active Power Factor Correction enables an 85% performance at full loading and a less than 1W power consumption in stand-by mode.

The design of FSP’s Green PS effectively cuts down on both consumption and power loss and clearly shows the product characteristics of environmental protection and high efficiency.

Moreover, in order to reduce the environmental impact of used products, and to comply with environment protection laws/regulations as well as recycling regulations stipulated by the EC, FSP has spared no effort to pursue innovation in product designs.

Perfectly crafted circuits and neat component alignment supplement the design for Green PS components. While high efficiency and sufficient wattage remain guaranteed, the product becomes 600g lighter than most other power supplies, greatly reducing weight and future expenses for recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Green PS comes with a large 12cm fan, which guarantees low noise (less than 25dB) by striking a balance between heat dispersion and quietness. Six large and one small power connectors in combination with 2 sets of SATA power connectors make satisfactorily sufficient equipment set for regular servers and family users. Independent PCI express further helps bring out perfect performance of computer players’ high-level colour display cards. Its design perfectly fits the needs for comprehensive expansion of the gamer-level DIY market as well as general users.

The EC’s regulations on environmental protection are just a starting point. In the future, there will be stricter and more stringent demands on environmental protection in the global market. People have come to realize that the importance of environmental protection issues shall not be ignored in the pursuit of industrial and economic development.
